Co-ownership

Co-ownership is how a building shared by several owners is organised: each owns a private unit and a share of the common parts.

In Luxembourg, it is governed by a 1975 law. Co-owners decide together at the general meeting on upkeep and works, and entrust day-to-day management to a managing agent. The building's rules are set out in the co-ownership regulations.

Before buying a flat, it is worth reading the minutes of recent meetings and the amount of service charges: they reveal the state of the building and upcoming works.
