Building permit
The building permit (autorisation de bâtir) is issued by the mayor and authorises a construction, an extension or certain alterations to a building.
It is granted if the project complies with the PAG, any PAP and the municipality's building regulations. Works may only start once the permit has been obtained and displayed on site.
For an existing property, it is wise to check that past alterations, such as a converted attic or a conservatory, were properly authorised.
