Energy performance class
The energy performance class rates the energy performance of a home, from A (very efficient) to I (poorly performing), according to its consumption and the building's insulation.
In Luxembourg, the energy performance certificate (CPE) gives a home two classes: one for energy efficiency, one for the thermal insulation of the building envelope. This document is compulsory when a property is put up for sale or for rent.
A high energy performance class (A or B) generally reflects better insulation and lower heating costs, a criterion that weighs more and more heavily in the choice of a property.
