Housing aid
Housing aid covers the grants, subsidies and guarantees the Luxembourg State offers to help people buy, build or renovate their main residence.
It takes several forms: purchase or construction grant, savings grant, interest subsidy on the loan, State guarantee to top up the down payment. Most depend on household income and composition, and are requested from the one-stop shop for housing aid (Guichet unique des aides au logement).
They come on top of tax advantages such as the Bëllegen Akt or 3% VAT. It is worth checking them early: they change the real budget of a project, and some must be requested within a set deadline.
