Renting

Notice period

The notice period is the time that must elapse between announcing the end of the lease and the tenant actually leaving.

The tenant can in principle end the lease by giving three months' notice in writing. The landlord, for their part, can only terminate on grounds provided for by law, such as personal need or a serious breach by the tenant.

The period runs from receipt of the letter: sending it by registered post keeps proof of it.
